What is the StorySwap Fringe Within a Fringe?

The Fringe-Within-the-Fringe invites you to enjoy Storytellers and Spoken Word artists of all sorts. At the Fringe-Within-A-Fringe you might hear traditional folk tales or wild tall tales, moving personal stories or risqué poetry. If it features the Spoken Word and a spoken narrative, the Fringe-Within-A-Fringe is the place to find it.

The Fringe-Within-A-Fringe is a joint program of the Pittsburgh Fringe Festival and StorySwap in which the Fringe blocks off a section of the festival schedule, that StorySwap fills up with Storytelling and Spoken Word performances.  Since this is a miniature Fringe, each performer has a single show, so that we can fit as many different performers into the program. This year, we have scheduled the Fringe-Within-A-Fringe on Friday evening at Max’s Allegheny Tavern, so you can grab a seat and enjoy a full evening of exciting and diverse Spoken Word performances.

StorySwap is Pittsburgh’s organization promoting the art of storytelling in all its forms.  StorySwap produces the Three Rivers Storytelling Festival every August and Tellabration, an annual night featuring local storytellers, most Novembers, as well as running a monthly swapping session open to anyone interested in storytelling. You can find more information about other Storytelling events in the city at storyswap.org.
